You no longer need to obtain a burn permit. Prior to burning, please make sure the conditions are okay for that day by checking our website, calling the burn permit line or contacting the fire department.

Our Team

Meet Our Command Staff

The Fowlerville Area Fire Department members consists of a Fire Chief, Assistant Fire Chief, two Captains, two Lieutenants, one Sergeant, one Engineer, a Medical Officer and an Administrative Assistant, as well as 18 other on-call paid firefighters. The department operates a day crew shift of two firefighters Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.  Each member is required to complete the State of Michigan Firefighter I and II training, as well as a minimum of an Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) class. All department members are required to attend meetings and trainings each month. We are committed to protecting the life and property of our residents.

About Fowlerville Area Fire

We're Always There, Ready To Assist

Between the main station and sub-station, the department services a population of 19,031 residents, which reside in Handy, Iosco and Conway Townships, as well as the Village of Fowlerville. The fire department also serves four schools and one early childhood learning center, as well as areas of the I-96 interstate. The department currently manages 900+ medical, rescue and fire emergencies annually.

The department is funded by a fire millage equaling 2.0 mils through property taxes from Handy, Conway and Iosco Townships and the Village of Fowlerville. The FAFD reports to the Fire Authority Board, who manages and approves the overall fire department operations. The Fire Authority Board consists of one representative from each of the four municipalities.
